I have applied for AP (I131) on 8/14/09 and my I-485 got approved on 9/01/09. Is USCIS is going to return my I131 fee or is there anything I have to initiate from my end to get the refund?.
Pls do let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Lol, actually I agree with you... though I've never posted in here, I think people just go straight to the Job Offers forum and wait for responses instead of looking here first. ;)

I think we should block "yan3537kun48" in posting message? He just opened all the threads and type junk. He does not any profile data.
Thanks.

This is not really a surprise and it's not because American doctors are in any way inadequate. However, while virtually all US medical school graduates will eventually go on to practice medicine, residency and fellowship slots that go to J-1 and H-1B doctors are filled by doctors who generally finish near the top of their medical school classes. Americans who worry that they are getting inferior medical care going to a internationally-educated doctor should feel more at ease after seeing this data. One group that didn't do well - American-born doctors who go to medical school overseas.

From twitter : whitehouse: 3:00 EST Live video chat on DREAM Act with Cecilia Muoz via Facebook
White House Live on Facebook (http://apps.facebook.com/whitehouselive/)
Just missed it. Could only get to hear the last statement. "The Congress already has 50 votes to pass the DREAM ACT. They need at least 60 votes........."
Anyone knows from where to get to see this once again?

My friends received Green cards in 2007. They live abroad, but make regular trips tho the Us to visit family and maintain their GC.
Unfortunaltely, they recently misplaced their green cards. They are planning a trip to the US this month, for which they have received travel letters from the US Embassy abroad.
Would anyone know what the process is afterwords? We know they have to file I-90s to replace their lost GC. Does this have to be done at the port of entry? Or is it done at a local office on reaching their final US destination?
Also, will they be called for a biometric appointment locally or can that be done at a Port of Entry. Can the biometric be done at a location abroad?
If anyone has any info on this, it'd be truly appreciated.

Hi,
I am on EB2+PERM. I got LC approved and currently filed for I-140 and 485.
As I understand unless the I-485 is pending for more than 180 days after the approval of I-140, I have to restart the whole process again with the new employer (expect that I can port PD if I want to).
Now are there any chance that if the above scenario happens, and my employer did not revoke I-140 or 485, that I can still receive my GC? Or that will be illegal? Please clarify.
Thanks

Hello,
I have a I-485 pending with a LIN# and in the NEW instructions there is a lockbox for "I-485 and MSC" combo and a separate filing address for I-485. I'm confused about where a "I-485 with a LIN#" combo (my case) should be sending his EAD renewal documents over to? (Refering to pages 8-10 of I-765 instructions).

Thanks much in advance!

Wilmer Rivera Melendez, 61, pretended to be a lawyer and offered to help more than a dozen undocumented Guyanese immigrants in Brooklyn to get green cards, has been indicted in an immigration fraud scheme in which he is accused of offering to marry two illegal Guyanese immigrants in Brooklyn to help them gain legal status. Robert M. Morgenthau, the Manhattan district attorney, also added that this man was earlier convicted of bigamy in Georgia six years ago.
Mr. Morgenthau claimed himself having 20 year of experience as a lawyer, filed documents with immigration authorities for withholding of removal that would have allowed immigrants to remain in the country and obtain green cards, which is actually does not allow one to obtain a green card. Instead, Mr. Melendezs actions led federal immigration officials to begin deportation proceedings against the 14 Guyanese immigrants. The law provides for illegal immigrants who are victims of violent crime to receive temporary visas, but not victims of fraud.

On November 27, the USCIS announced that they had received 58,900 H-1B petitions toward the 65,000 cap. So there are 6,100 numbers remaining, correct? (Update: By December 4, the USCIS had received 61,100 H-1B petitions toward the 65,000 cap.) Not exactly. We have Free Trade Agreements with both Singapore and Chile which set aside 6,800 "H-1B1" numbers for nationals of those countries. Do the math: 65,000 minus 6,800 equals 58,200. This means that the agency has received 700 more H-1B petitions than it can approve. Why then is the USCIS still accepting H-1B petitions? Because some of the petitions that...

Hi
I have a couple questions:confused: -
1) Can I file EAD/AP now; I applied 485 on July 3 (no receipt number yet, but application received by USCIS)?
2) What all docs are required for filing EAD & AP? I want to file it myself.
