The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports on today's citizenship swearing in of Irish-born James Patrick O'Donnell. Mr. O'Donnell immigrated to the US at the age of 4 in 1926 and fought for our country in World War II and won a Bronze Battle Star. In 1987, Mr. O'Donnell applied for a passport to go on a cruise and was told that he was not a citizen despite his clear recollection of being naturalized before shipping out during the war. It took nearly 20 years and was never resolved, but today USCIS will finally resolve the matter by naturalizing this American hero....

I'm surprised no organization is following up with USCIS about the prompt monthly updates on pending Volumes. So much for the push for openess during the 90 day initiative by the President !
Going by the charts and Dashboard one would come to think the September volumes has whittled down to Zero !! Hmmm..

Apparently there are people who file for I-485 and I140 without labor approval.
I don't know how many people did this, but I heard there are cases of this kind.
What is the validity of this information? If it is valid, what are the risks?
The person who informed me went further explaining the procedure. He said that one needs to just file and wait for further documentation request from CIS. Upon labor approval complete documentation is presented to CIS.
Experienced souls, please advise.

To Experts and Attorneys,
I have a question regarding AC21 portibility. I got my EAD in Oct 12th 2007. In the labor(used a pre-approved labor), the base pay mentioned is 48K and I was getting paid 55K from my current employer(A) who filed my green card.
I am getting another job in company (B) in the same field. The salary offer is better but is very high than mentioned in my labor. The new salary is around 85K.
1) Will the high salary will cause any issue with green card process if I take AC21 and use my EAD. Anyone had this kind of experience with the salary difference.
2) How do I know my new job is in the same or similar category as defined by USCIS.
3) Is AC21 is safe to take.

Any advantage of opening an account on USCIS website to receive automatic case status updates? or I don't need to do that if I keep checking the status online by myself?
They send you and email if something changes, nice if you have a Blackberry/pda
If you have multiple cases i-129, i-131, i-140, i-485 you can see them all on one page, I find that easier to see LUDs in particular the "soft" non-action ones, but it's nice to know the file was touched.

Hello,
We have our 485 interview's next week @ the Baltimore Field Office. My PD is current for EB-2. My case is pretty straightforward so hopefully should not be a issue.
Would appreciate any comments from folks in MD who have been interviewed @ the Fallon Federal Building in downtown.
Particularly - can they approve our cases right there & then.? Will they stamp our passports for approval since PD is current for January 2011.? Can there be any issued with visa number not available, etc. ?
Any advice is appreciated.

Good news. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) recently issued guidance on the new H-1B amendment that limits Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) recipients� ability to hire H-1B workers. The USCIS confirmed that the new H-1B amendment does not apply to H-1B extensions for current employees with the same employer.

Can I file I-485 for self and I-824 (application for changing AOS to CP for approved immigration petition) for dependents, if depedents won't be able to come within a year? If yes, how much time will take to transfer case from AOS to CP?
