We cannot expect core members to be online all the time, and we cannot expect to see lobbying related information unless a bill actually comes out. I think what we CAN do is keep the average members like me who want to do something, engaged with things that are within reach.
FOIA campaign was a great example of this.
However, I am very sad to report that only 3 other members from Texas Chapter participated. With such level of participation, I am not even sure that such campaigns are meaningful. Lobbying seems the best option, where we can pay and then be lazy the rest of the time, but the drawback is that updates will be once in 6 months or a year depending on when bill is being introduced.
With all due respect to the selfless hard work of IV core, I concur with ItIsNotFunny. There are many members who feel this way. IV core should be more open to members. I feel a cloud of secrecy always surrounding IV. Of course they cannot be public about all their activities, but more needs to be done on this front. You will see more members actively participating if core is more open.

No, this is only the processing time for labor application, the whole process took a lot longer than this. I first submitted my document to the lawyer in the last week of January this year. Lawyer prepared my case, wages approval etc. it took around 1+ month to get preventing wages. then advertisement, recruitment process etc.
almost 8 month to finish all the requirements before the company could actually file the labor application.

First in First out is always the best option. Unfortunately that is not happening. In this scenario you should be happy that lot of people are getting green cards as the number of people in the line before you gets reduced and the visa numbers are not wasted. As some body said "Life is not fair".
The sad part is that some applicants who missed the boat called BEC with PD of around June 2004 on EB3/India got approved in June end/July time frame. I did see this on some forums external to IV.
I think there may be candidates from 2001/2002/2003 who may have applied in June/July 07. But if the rumors of NSC processing RD wise (as seen on some forum posts outside IV), then it is unfair to these people, because there may be others who missed the BEC boat and are ahead of these folks coming out of BEC.

There is no doubt about NRIs are the prime reason for the real estate boom in India. It is tottally unbelivable that 2 bedroom flat in a normal second class town has gone to up to 40 lakes. Decent independent houses are in terms of crores in small cites. Two factors. One is foreign money and second in black money from local dadas/politicians. Also demand vs supply. The availble land is small and demand for that land is too high due to these two gropus.
I visited one of my NRI friends house in India, where he is not going to live as he is a US citizen. His parents already won two houses and they bought another house as a investment. This house in a recent development area in a small town where there is no high tech employment is avialable; In my feeling it may not worth 5 lakes; they were selling at 45 lakes. Even if anyone ready to pay 45 lakes there is no unit is avialable; everything was sold to NRIs. No resident won the houses in that area. All the dads and mos are baby sitting the houses. Renting alos not that easy. It is tottally unbelivable. I wonder why all the NRIs buying house in India and increisng the house price? The guys working here (or any part of the world) and not going to live in India, why government should allow to buy the house and increse the price? Everyone tries to do real estate bussiness there. That is the main reason for price increase.
Is is sad. All these NRIs are going to learn a very valuable lesson. Speculation is not a good strategy for investing. A lot learned that in the past few months here in USA. In a year we will be seeing the full blown post bubble correction in India. If one can rent an apartment for 15,000 why would one buy it for 50 lakhs. The interest alone on 50 lakhs is 50,000 every month. It is like buy and rent it and loose money. Instead why don't they deposit in a bank and get 50,000 every month:confused:

This scenarios is for those who used all 6 years on H1 and got H1 extension due to a pending AOS application. they may have EADs too..

here is the IRS link which says all non resident aliens will not receive the check, irrespective if they have a SSN or not. Last I knew every H1 is a non-resident alien.
